Consulting ServicesSince 1983 I have been using and providing services to the Internet. My background includes volunteer work for Grex, an online community where I wrote Unix scripts, helped develop webpages, and assisted new users. After receiving a certificate in Computer Operations from Washtenaw Community College, I worked for the University of Michigan Hospitals computer repair department and led corporate training sessions for Henry Ford Community College. At the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences I was a database administrator and was responsible for maintaining and securing webservers and online databases. Since 1997 I have been the Systems Administrator at the Canton Public Library where I maintain servers and coordinate computer operations. I have experience teaching Unix and beginning computer classes at H.F.C.C. and W.C.C. My background has given me direct experience with a variety of computers and operating systems. This includes Windows, Citrix, OS X, Red Hat Linux, Debian Linux, SuSE Linux, Novell O.E.S, Solaris and Digital Unix. I've also worked with a variety of software packages including Microsoft Office and Open Office. Although I will occasionally "get my hands dirty" repairing computers or installing new hardware, I most often assist people who are planning to use other products and services. For example, one client wanted a comprehensive solution for unwanted email. I worked with their staff to plan, install and configure a "spam filter" for the organization. If you are planning to develop a website, implement email, upgrade your computers or software, improve your network connections or establish a Virtual Private Network, feel free to chat with me. I can make it easier for you to make good decisions! |
